Fall Fashion Preview

I am hoping that this new format works.  When the site Polyvore closed, it was hard for me to publish vision boards such as the one below.  I am not working with a new site so I hope going forward it works!!  Despite, this extreme heat, here are my fall fashion picks so far.  All of the sweaters are really great and can take you from day to night.  I also love that bow dresses/blouses are here to stay. You can never go wrong with oversized sunglasses and a pair of statement earrings!!!!

Book Club Monday

For the last Book Club Monday beach read of the summer, I chose Coco Beach by Beatriz Williams.  I was recommended this book by a dear friend who also happens to be Head of the Upper School at my daughter’s school.  She said she was glued to the book all last weekend and just loved it.  Hopefully wherever you spend this last holiday weekend, Coco Beach will tag along.  Below is the summary! Happy Reading!!!

The New York Times bestselling author of A Certain Age transports readers to sunny Florida in this lush and enthralling historical novel—an enchanting blend of love, suspense, betrayal, and redemption set among the rumrunners and scoundrels of Prohibition-era Cocoa Beach.
Burdened by a dark family secret, Virginia Fortescue flees her oppressive home in New York City for the battlefields of World War I France. While an ambulance driver for the Red Cross, she meets a charismatic British army surgeon whose persistent charm opens her heart to the possibility of love. As the war rages, Virginia falls into a passionate affair with the dashing Captain Simon Fitzwilliam, only to discover that his past has its own dark secrets—secrets that will damage their eventual marriage and propel her back across the Atlantic to the sister and father she left behind.
Five years later, in the early days of Prohibition, the newly widowed Virginia Fitzwilliam arrives in the tropical boomtown of Cocoa Beach, Florida, to settle her husband’s estate. Despite the evidence, Virginia does not believe Simon perished in the fire that destroyed the seaside home he built for her and their young daughter. Separated from her husband since the early days of their marriage, the headstrong Virginia plans to uncover the truth, for the sake of the daughter Simon never met.
Simon’s brother and sister welcome her with open arms and introduce her to a dazzling new world of citrus groves, white beaches, bootleggers, and Prohibition agents. But Virginia senses a predatory presence lurking beneath the irresistible, hedonistic surface of this coastal oasis. The more she learns about Simon and his mysterious business interests, the more she fears that the dangers that surrounded Simon now threaten her and their daughter’s life as well. – Amazon.com

King Kong Broadway

Our October Show is going to be King Kong on Tuesday October 9th at 8.  We have a bunch of Orchestra ticket with a price of $130 per seat. King Kong is a giant animated puppet/robot that has been described as a “compelling marvel”.  There are more details about the show below.  To reserve your ticket, EMAIL me. I cannot wait for this one!!!

King Kong, the world’s most epic modern myth comes alive on Broadway through an innovative mix of robotics, puppetry, music and stagecraft.

King Kong follows the ambitious young actress Ann Darrow and maverick filmmaker Carl Denham as they voyage from the bustling streets of 1930s New York to an uncharted island to capture the world’s greatest wonder. At the center of this 21st-century theatrical reimagining: a 2,000-pound, 20-foot high gorilla and the woman who risks everything to help him.

Directed and choreographed by Olivier winner Drew McOnie, King Kong features an electrifying new score by Marius de Vries (La La Land) and Eddie Perfect (Strictly Ballroom The Musical), and a book by Jack Thorne, the Olivier Award-winning writer of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Don’t miss this exhilarating, emotional encounter with a legend that’s always been too big to contain.

3 Minute Garlic Shrimp

I am still doing research for my back to school quick dinner recipes.  I found this one on instagram.  I have not tired it yet but it is first on my list when school starts.  The claim is that this is the easiest meal EVER!  Bring it on…….

3 Minute Garlic Shrimp

– Fry minced garlic in oil (minced in the jar) for 30 seconds.
– Throw in a bag of defrosted shrimp and a dash of salt (Stop and Shop has bags of frozen peeled, deveined, tail off shrimp).
– Stir fry until the shrimp turn pink.
– Snip in fresh chilies and chives.
– Serve with linguini or rice.
