Some New Products From Rodan and Fields

Throughout the year, I test so many products.  Rarely do I find one that I end up using daily or weekly.  But about a year ago, a friend sent me a sample of Rodan + Fields Mico-Dermabrasion Paste and I was hooked.  I use it twice a week and love the way my skin looks so "polished"afterwards.  When my friend Mary told me that she started selling Rodan + Fields, I asked her to show us some of their new products.   I have highlighted them below, and Mary has offered to give the first few readers, who place an order, a special gift of their choice from their uber popular Essentials line.  If you have any questions or for easy ordering, EMAIL Mary.  She really knows her stuff!!!!  Bon Weekend!!!!

The lash boost is known to be life changing and within weeks makes your eyelashes super long and thick!!!

I have to try this Hydration Syrum..It's suppose to be a game changer for your skin!!!

The micro roller is incredible.  I read so much about it that I had to try it....Trust me its great to help remove fine lines and build collagen.   But Mary can tell you much more!!!!!

I love the combo of the eye makeup remover wipes and the multi function eye cream!

Here is my fav...the Micro-Dermabrasion Paste!!  A must must have!

If Oprah likes this Redefine Serum then it is worth a try!!!

R+F also have amazing skin care regimens...customized for all skin types!!

And I have never seen this with any other cosmetic company.....for this also Rodan + Fields is worth a try!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crispy "Seaweed"

This week I am sharing one of my favorite recipes with you, Mr Chow's Crispy Seaweed.  I always thought this recipe was made with seaweed until I tried to make it at home.  The seaweed is actually collard greens and with the mixture of the salty and sweet taste, I guarantee you will not be able to stop eating!!!  Bon Appetit!!!

4 to 6 collard green leaves
Pot of boiling water
Oil for frying
1/2 tsp Salt,  1 tsp sugar

Place sliced ribbons into the hot water and blanch them for 45 seconds
Drain and squeeze the water out of them using your hands or kitchen paper

The White Shoe Trend

Can you embrace the white shoe trend.  I have not bought a pair of white shoes in ages.  I actually cannot remember the last time.  I have been noticing that white shoes are all the rage.  I decide to buy a pair of white pointed flats.  I have been wearing them with summer dresses and white jeans.  So far it seems to be working for me UNLESS I look down.  It is still a shock to see the bright white glaring up at me!!!   I think it is going to take some getting use to. But overall, I love the look on others so maybe it will grow on me!!!!

Time For Planters

With the garden walk still on my mind, I am attempting to fill the planters in front of my house.  I really like the idea of a Hydrangea arrangement.  In order for this to work for my size planters (which are pretty adverage size), the Hydrangea plant has to be in eight inch containers, like the ones you see at the grocery store.  This year I bought pink ones and potted them.  Now I need something cascading.  I like the idea of ivy, perhaps English Ivy.  But I found some photos for inspiration.  Hydrangea planters are really popular.  I love all the looks below, esp the ferns...hmmmmmmmmm!!!!!

Book Club Monday

This week's Book Club Monday's choice is When Life Gives You LuluLemons, by Lauren Weisberger, the author of The Devil Wears Prada.  I have read the reviews and it seems to be a very quick fun read.  Perfect for the beach or one quiet summer night.  It also takes place in Greenwich, Ct, which is toooo close to home.  Here is the summary:

Welcome to Greenwich, Connecticut, where the lawns and the women are perfectly manicured, the Tito’s and sodas are extra strong, and everyone has something to say about the infamous new neighbor.

Let’s be clear: Emily Charlton does not do the suburbs. After leaving Miranda Priestly, she’s been working in Hollywood as an image consultant to the stars, but recently, Emily’s lost a few clients. She’s hopeless with social media. The new guard is nipping at her heels. She needs a big opportunity, and she needs it now.

When Karolina Hartwell, a gorgeous former supermodel, is arrested for a DUI, her fall from grace is merciless. Her senator-husband leaves her, her Beltway friends disappear, and the tabloids pounce.

In Karolina, Emily finds her comeback opportunity. But she quickly learns Greenwich is a world apart and that this comeback needs a team approach.

So it is that Emily, the scorned Karolina, and their mutual friend Miriam, a powerful attorney turned stay-at-home suburban mom, band together to not only navigate the social land mines of suburban Greenwich but win back the hearts of the American public. Along the way, an indispensable ally emerges in one Miranda Priestly. - Amazon.com

Rafele Rye

So you never know how your day is going to end!!!!  I left my house at 10am and at 7:45 I was still out and about.  I called my husband and asked him if he wanted to meet me at the new restaurant in Rye, Rafele, the second Neapolitan influenced restaurant of Chopped Champion chef Raffaele Ronca.  I had run into one of the owners, Karen, at Starbucks last week and she recommended some dishes, so I really was dying to try.....First off let me explain, this post is no way sponsored, and I did not go for a Chef's tasting...I just walked in off the street like all the other non bloggers!!! HA!!

OMG!!!  I have to say it was fabulous...I go to restaurants a lot and I definitely know if an Italian restaurant is going to be good by the taste of its Tomato sauce...this one was sooo good...I mean UBER good so I knew we were in for a treat.

But let me start my adventure..so last minute I went on open table and made a reservation for 8:15.  I went in a little early and sure enough I screwed up and booked the NYC restaurant...The Hostess did not bat an eye..she gave us the best 4 top table (I called my daughter and mom to run right downtown to meet us), assuring me that it happens all the time (mind you this was a completely full hot brand new restaurant).  Let me tell you, when you make that type of mistake in other fine restaurants they look like they want to slap you across the face....

We started with the fried artichokes.  YUMMMMM...then Rafele came up to our table because we admired a dish our neighbors were eating..and guess what????  He sent us over a complimentary one....THAT NEVER HAPPENS!!!!  Can you believe it?  I was just so impressed with him just coming over!!

Below is what we ordered and honestly I am telling you, you have to try Rafele Rye.  Make your reservations NOW, this one is going to be packed for a loooonnnngggggggg time.....next week, fingers crossed, I will try to get Rafele Rye to share a recipe with us!!!! For more information or to make a reservation, click HERE  Bon Appeitit.
Meet Rafele:

This was the Broiled White Salmon.  My mom ordered it.  It was today's special so I don't have the description but I can tell you that she loved it so much she wants to go back tomorrow to order it again.

The costume institute is the jewel of the Met. This year's exhibit is Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic imagination examines fashion's ongoing engagement with the devotional practices and traditions of Catholicism . Our resident docent extraordinaire, Emily McElwreath is going to lead us on a tour of this incredible exhibit.  I am especially looking forward to seeing the papal robes in the Anna Wintour Costume Center, some which have never been seen outside the Vatican.  Grab your daughters, friends, family and meet us in the Great Hall on the 23rd. EMAIL me to save your spot.

A Garden Walk

Today was a first for me..I went on the Rye Garden Club's Garden Walk.  It was amazing!!!  I have always been into interiors so naturally House Tours are right up my alley.  I love flowers and filling my ceramic pots but the adornment for my outdoors ends there.  I plant a few things each year but I have no talent in the horticultural arena!!!!  Well, I cannot begin to tell you the splendor we witnessed today.  Every home that was showcased had an owner whose passion was landscape design and gardening.  And boy it showed......I am making this event a must do every year.......You have to see for yourself!!!!!

There was a definite uniform for this special day, think cute flats, adorable dresses & tops and fashionable straw hats...

This double arch side garden was breathtaking!!!

Most of the homes had gorgeous stone patios.  Notice the marble dolphin console, dark wicker love seat and the Asian garden stools...perfection!

The Koi ponds sighhhhhh....the most incredible I have ever seen...with fountains too!

How cute are my friends waiting for me to get my photos but this arch really was amazing!!!  Perfect for a photo op.

This was a contained Blueberry Garden!!

This was the most magnificently impressive vegetable garden, I have ever seen, I swear there were about 5 types of lettuces growing!!!

There are just no words to how regal this looked in person!

We all loved these garden statues!!

I just fell in love with this look...in person, it was just incredible...

The view was one of the best I have seen in this area..someone commented that from certain angles and with the majestic garden decor she felt like she was in Lake Cuomo!!!

I am in awe of the Purple Balls of Allium.  Everyone could not stop oohhhing and ahhhing!!!!

This porch had the most amazing, largest ferns all around...and you cannot see, but on the console inside were the most gorgeous Wooden asian looking trees flanking each side....Divine!!!!!

This weathered iron chair is just the BEST!!!!

There was just something so perfect about this pool house!!

This sprawling lawn was incredible..I have never seen such a majestic line up of trees!!!  You REALLY needed to see this in person......

And, still, with a lot to be desired, I was able to bring home some beauty of the garden walk with me....a gorgeous ceramic cobalt container garden designed by the "Garden Guru", Kent Russell himself!!!..A least it's a start....
