Jewelry Storage

I will admit it, I am a fashion jewelry junkie!!!  I love bold necklaces and bracelets, earrings and rings...Over the years I have collected so many amazing pieces.  And I have to say, I do wear everything I have.  A big problem is, and a lot of my fellow jewelry junkies email me, how to store your treasures??!!!!  Here are some photos of my favorite ways.  I had my closet redone after a lighting fixture caught fire ( I know NIGHTMARE).  I had a bunch of hooks installed so I could hang my necklaces.  My rings I keep in a decorative box on a shelf and my bracelets, I like to keep on a bar (like the one below) stacked next to one another.  My mom bought me a lucite cube like the one in the last photo one year for Christmas.  It holds a ton of earrings, all sizes and styles from the smallest studs to the largest chandeliers.

This is how I love to store my bracelets.

I am going to copy this idea.  I really love it!!!

My friend Cricket stores her jewelry in a chest.  I love this too!!  I'd love to get my hands on this collection!!!

Here is Cricket's Closet, notice the necklaces on hooks and PS I also copied her and hand my handbags on drapery tie backs!!!!  Brilliant Ideas!!!

This jewelry chest is simply gorgeous!!!

OMG!! Whatis

Drawer dividers are another great way to store bracelets!!!!  Wow awesome is this collection?

Another great idea..Perfect way to use all those silver trays and small dishes you have lying around!!!!

I also love displaying some of my larger necklaces on decorative objects..LOVE this necklace and LOVE this mirror!!!!

More Hooks

This has to be the best earring holder EVER.  My mom got mine at the antique center in Stamford but I am sure you can google it and find one or something similar!!!!

Instant Volume for Your Hair

A few weeks ago, I was interviewing Dr Brown on his incredible skin care line, (see post HERE).  Out of the blue he asked me if I was more worried about wrinkles or hair loss....OMG!!! Hair Loss is my biggest nightmare.  I swear I use to have thick straight hair..now I have fine limp, no body whatsoever hair.  Not even a good blow out can help me!!!  Dr. Brown, without skipping a beat, asked me if I would try the hair care line, Renessence.  Renessence is the only hair care product created by a plastic surgeon, Dr Brown himself. This hair renewal system dramatically improves hair health.  It works as a treatment, and a preventative for aging and thinning hair by resuscitating dormant follicles through stem cell stimulation.  I started using the shampoo and conditioner as soon as they arrived..After 1 week, I swear, I saw an incredible difference!!!!  Just the other day, I was at the salon and after drying my hair, the technician said to me, "You have the best volume...your hair has so much body".  I'm hooked.  If you want to try Renessence, you can buy the shampoo HERE and conditioner HERE.

21 Club Creamy Chicken Hash

I love visiting iconic New York Restaurants....21 Club is one of my parents' favorites.  When they are in from Florida we have to visit at least once a year.  It brings back so many special memories for them, especially my mom who use to go there with her dad.  The last time I was there, I really started to think about this iconic historic spot.  What was it that kept people coming back?  It's such a special occasion restaurant.  The incredible Bar Room decorated with hanging toys (in which, Salvatore Ferragamo, Bill Clinton, Cartier, Willie Mays and so many more have had a hand in decorating) plays an important part of NY history.  But is has to also be the incredible menu most especially the "21 classics".  One of my favorite dishes is the classic dish Creamy Chicken Hash.  I like it without the bread or rice and extra spinach!! I am never really able to recreate this incredible dish at home but I can get pretty close!!  Bon Appetit!!!

My girls celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary this Fall!!!

Ingredients:

1 ½ lbs skinless, boneless chicken breasts

salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

3 cups chicken stock

1 stick unsalted butter, softened

½ cup unbleached white flour

¼ cup dry sherry

¼ cup heavy cream

1 ½ lb grated gruyere

½ tsp fresh grated nutmeg

Method:

1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Bring the chicken stock to a boil. Add the chicken breasts, and lower the heat to a simmer. Poach the chicken breasts 20 minutes or until fully cooked.

2. Remove the chicken from the poaching liquid and cool completely before cutting into one inch cubes. Reserve the liquid.

3. Combine the softened butter with the flour, kneading them together into a paste.

4. Return the reserved chicken stock to a boil, and using a wire whisk, add the flour/butter combination in one‐tablespoon increments.

5. Cook 5 minutes then add the sherry and cream.

6. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper. Whisk in the cheese and nutmeg. Remove from heat once cheese is melted.

7. Fold in diced chicken.

8. OPTIONAL CRUNCHY TOPPING: Top with additional cheese, and brown lightly under broiler.

9. Serve with spinach and wild rice. Many patrons prefer the hash served over white toast (no crust) instead of wild rice.

How To Wear Head To Toe Denim

Are you ready for denim on denim?  I swore that I would NEVER EVER be caught dead with jeans and a jean jacket outfit.  I HATE that look.  I really really do.  But recently, there have been so many good denim on denim looks.  A while ago I bought a denim tunic with a bow embellishment on the side of the neckline.  I wore it with white jeans over the summer but now that we are in fall, I thought it would be a great transition piece.  Last week, I paired it with flared denim jeans and leopard bag and shoes.  I went off to a meeting, feeling that I was not 100% on board with the look yet, but it was with a long time blog sponsor, so I knew it would be a no judgement zone.  I have to say I never received more compliments.  One of the ladies said, "so thats how you can wear all denim".  Unfortunately the top I wore is sold out but there are some really cute ones at J Crew, Anthropology, and Zara.  Here is some denim on denim inspiration for your own wardrobe!!!
