Fashionable Friend Friday

Today's Fashionable Friend Friday is the dynamic duo behind Lola NY in White Plains, Dawn and Denise.  I have posted about this great find before...but in case you missed it, the first time, here's the back story!  Many of my readers kept emailing me to check out Lola.  My good friend Kelley decided that enough was enough and we had to plan a visit (Lola being one of her favorite local shops).  Wow!!  Was I blown away!  The store is full of amazing accessories and cute clothing items. You can tell that the designers they carry are carefully curated.  In fact tomorrow they are having a special shopping day for a wonderful charity and even an amazing give-a-way that you cannot miss. Below are the details....Hope to see you there!!!!

Something Wonderful Can Happen Just About Anywhere

I decided to forgo Fall Fashion today or a hearty family-friendly recipe in order to share an amazing thing that happened to me tonight.  I know we are all stressed with the never-ending obligations upon us.  Perhaps you are having a bad week, or month or year even.  Did that great deal just fall through? Is the election getting to you?  Are you just so disappointed with the candidates that you cannot stop taking about it or is it a combination of everything?  I am urging you to just take the time to step back and breathe.  I had been running around most of this week, feeling that it really never ends.  I stopped to get gas at 9, yes 9:00 P-M.  I still had one more stop afterward and I was so ready to just throw in the towel.  As I was standing at the pump, a car pulled in with the loudest music blasting.  I just kept thinking he must have the worst hearing.  Everyone at the gas station froze as if not knowing what really to do.  Someone walked around to see who was disturbing our pumping peace.  All of a sudden, one of the men started dancing next to his car and then someone else joined.  The employees of the little shop came out to watch.  The man next to me started singing.  I looked around and stepped back.  It did not matter that we were all strangers or where we were from or where we were going.  No one saw color, or gender or even age.  The entire group of people at the gas station at that moment in time were all enjoying themselves and this song brought everyone together for just those few fleeting moments.  It was a beautiful thing for me and my daughter to see.   I was sad to leave but off to CVS we had to go...back to reality!!!!!!!  BTW Here is the song...I will always be brought back to this night  from now on, when it plays!!!!!!!

Jonathan Adler Fall 2016

Yesterday I received the Jonathan Adler fall catalogue and all I can say is WOW.  If it was possible, I would move right into those glossy gorgeous pages.  I have always been a fan of Jonathan Adler and his partner Simon Doonan.  Honestly, this is Jonathan's best collection yet.  BUT, don't take my word for it...see it for yourself!!!!

Book Club Monday

There have been so many psychological thrillers published after the success of Gone Girl.  Every time a new one is published I am so interested, I read the summary and add it to my list.  Last week, a reader texted me a photo of the book The Couple Next Door, and I knew I had to share it.  First of all the title is brilliant.  Who at one point or another has not been intrigued with the people next door?  It is such an American phenomenon.  For me it started with the older twin sisters who lived next door to us growing up.  They could not drive and walked everywhere dressed alike.  VERY intriguing!  The plot of this story goes like this....

Anne and Marco Conti seem to have it all—a loving relationship, a wonderful home, and their beautiful baby, Cora. But one night when they are at a dinner party next door, a terrible crime is committed. Suspicion immediately focuses on the parents. But the truth is a much more complicated story.

Inside the curtained house, an unsettling account of what actually happened unfolds. Detective Rasbach knows that the panicked couple is hiding something. Both Anne and Marco  soon discover that the other is keeping secrets, secrets they've kept for years.

What follows is the nerve-racking unraveling of a family—a chilling tale of  deception, duplicity, and unfaithfulness that will keep you breathless until the final shocking twist.

Does this not sound incredible?  I feel like it might be one that we cannot put down.  For more information on this book or to purchase, click HERE.

Weekend Real Estate Stalking

If you follow me on social media you already know that I had three missed close encounters with Leonardo Di Caprio.  Once at the restaurant The Lion in NYC.  I got there just as he left, the paparazzi were still lingering outside, next, this summer at the Beyonce concert, I missed him by ONE night...same section and all and finally a few weekends ago in East Hampton.  I think the universe is telling me that we are destined to meet.  Leo, until we "meet" again, I will just have to dream about purchasing your fabulous home that just went on the market in Malibu!!!!!

Fashionable Friend Friday

This week's Fashionable Friend Friday is Andy Alexander, The Grim Wreather!  I first saw Andy's incredible work on Instagram.  Andy is a true artist and his creations are the most fabulous ornate Halloween wreaths.  Each one is a sculpture for your home or door.  The wreaths are an amazing combination of Halloween decorations, ornate costume jewelry and other glitzy objects and finally artificial flowers of all colors and sizes.  The end result is spectacular.  Each piece is sure to become a family heirloom that you will look forward to displaying year after year, Halloween after Halloween. Andy promised to make my Halloween wreath a true couture piece (he likes to categorize them as couture and ready to wear).  I told him I want the Paris Fashion Week of Halloween Wreaths!!!  Im sooooo excited!!! Stay tuned readers!!!  To order your own Grim Wreather wreath click HERE.  Bon Weekend!!!!!

I was lucky enough to catch up with Andy and interview him for Up To The Minute With Nicole.  Click HERE to listen to our interview.

Baked Spinach With Eggs

Here's a recipe that I had pinned a while ago.  I have been dying to try it.  I think it would make an awesome back to school dinner.  It's very healthy and extremely easy to make.  A win/win all around. Happy Cooking!

Baked Spinach with Eggs and Feta Cheese
adapted from

6 cups firmly packed spinach or 1 (10oz or up to 1 lb) bag of fresh baby spinach.  Can also use frozen
4 eggs (can increase to 6 if you are using more spinach)
Salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
2-3 Tbsp crumbled Feta cheese (depending on your liking)
Baking spray or a little oil for greasing

Pre-heat the oven to 400.
Lightly spray or grease an oven safe dish.  Set aside.
Place the spinach in a frying pan.  Add a little water and using medium heat cook the spinach until wilted (3-4 minutes).  Pack the spinach and drain...esp if you are using frozen spinach.
Place the spinach in the baking dish.
Crack eggs on top.  Season lightly and sprinkle the feta on top.
Place the baking dish on a cookie sheet (in case it bubbles over) and bake for approx. 15-18 minutes, until the eggs are set/cooked.

Getting Ready For Fall Entertaining

With tomorrow being the first day of fall,  our thoughts are turning to fall entertaining.  These days successful entertaining seems to be all about the well-stocked bar or bar cart!   Whether you are serving cocktails or mocktails, wine or champagne, that bar needs to look its best.  The focal point or jewel of the bar is definitely the ice bucket.  The gorgeous glasses come and go, once they are filled, but the ice bucket remains standing strong until all the guests leave.  That is why I am recommending we choose one that is unique and elegant.  The ones below happen to be my favorites.  Happy Fall and Happy Entertaining!!!!
